I was a new patient. Everything in the office was absolutely wonderful. I was so thankful that I was able to get an appointment so quick being a new patient.

After tehnician's finished his preliminary evaluation , waiting time before the doctor appeared seemed a bit excessive. It would have been nice gesture if the office staff could easily have apprised me of a delay

Well organized staff. Saw Dr. Oliver promptly. Told her surgery coordinator would call me back the same afternoon, but received no call. That was disappointing.

My three year old daughter had plenty of options to engage her in the waiting room, which was large and bright and clean. The technicians and doctor were great with such a little one, getting her to complete tests quickly and making everything fast-paced to keep her attention.

Everyone was very friendly and kind. From check-in to check-out. My only issue was with the reading prescription I was given. When I went to get the lenses the optician called to verify the prescription I handed him. He was faxed the prescription back and it turned out I was given the prescription for driving/seeing further away and not for reading/computer work. On top of that, the far off prescription I was given versus the far off prescription that was sent with the fax (they faxed the reading and far off prescription together) were completely different. I have no idea how any of this could have happened. The Dr. was the one that handed me the prescription after writing it out. Very strange.

Dr. Seidman has been our daughter’s eye doctor since she was a baby. He is absolutely her favorite doctor. He is great with kids and a very talented doctor as well. She got her 1st glasses at 6 months or so and when she put them on her eyes lit up because she was seeing clearly for the 1st time. Now she’s a teenager. We still love him. We wouldn’t go to anyone else.

The overall experience is very satisfactory. The receptionist was very courteous and on time for my 7:00 AM appointment. Jorge was very helpful and courteous, too. Dr. McAllister performed a thorough evaluation of my visual concerns/issues and provided helpful suggestions.

My only concern is that I was admitted to the examination room way past my scheduled appointment.

We had a great visit! Dr. Diora was fantastic with my son and did a thorough check on his eyes. I would have given 5 stars to my review, had I been told that apart from my $35 copayment, they would charge $60 for the glasses prescription. I visit the optometrist every year and pay $35 for the check up and an updated prescription, so that charge doesn’t make sense to me. Anyways, I was very happy with Dr. Diora!

Every single person from the front desk (who was able to get me an appt because I was scheduled at Falls Church, apparently). I didn't have to wait long although I was being fitted in. The young lady who did the original original texting was so personable! And Dr. KHAN WAS WONDERFUL. SHE answered my questions and gave me suggestions. Because it's a large practice I hope I'm able to have Dr. KHAN NEXT YEAR.

Dr. Ellis's assistant was AMAZING with our shy three year old- I would even go so far as to say he had fun with that part of the exam, and he repeatedly told me later how nice she was. I felt that Dr. Ellis was a little impatient with him (which I can understand, it can be frustrating, but he's only 3) because after he got his eyes dilated, he was not eager to go back to the exam room. While I feel I have some understanding of my son's situation, I wish I had a little more information after the appointment.

If running late, would be super helpful not to chat in front of patient’s door for > 5 minutes bc we are already getting anxious everything is running late in our day now too. Totally respect the need for some light conversation between patients to help get through the day, just maybe move it to the side so it doesn’t irritate patients waiting behind the closed door.

Dr. Khan was excellent. She took her time with me and was very thorough.

Dr Khan is awesome. She knows her stuff and corrected a long standing vision issue I had with an optometrist (not at their practice). My nurse was lovely and funny. They are the best.

The office is run very efficiently and the pediatric doctor had a wonderful approach to working with children.

My initial impression on my first visit to the practice was quite negative. I was on time for my appointment yet there was a long, long delay before the technician took me into the exam room to start making tests. There was no patient in front of me because it was a 1 o’clock appointment, only the lunch break. So the delay was not due to a patient receiving treatment. Very frustrating!! And no apology. Next Dr. Diora’s technician is no doubt highly qualified, however, she showed absolutely no warmth, no compassion, no sense that she was glad to have me as a brand new patient to the practice. Cold and sterile. I felt like a mere number to her. She needs to have some definite interpersonal skills coaching from her boss. On the other hand, Dr. Diora was delightful! Very warm very friendly engaged, and listened very well to my issues. Her patient interaction manner was A+.

The person that made my appt was horrible. She didn’t get much correct on the form when I checked in. The doctor was great! I would highly recommend the doctor.

Overall, the atmosphere of the office setting is very nice. Despite the very large waiting area which is broken up into different areas, it is pleasantly calm. The staff at the check in desk is very efficient and professional. They always (almost) look into your eyes as they ask questions when you sign in. I was seen in a timely manner by the doctor and my check out was again, efficient and professional. The ONLY negative comment I have was that I overheard staff talking about a patient as I sat in the smaller waiting area. They were in the hallway leading to the exam rooms and although I couldn't hear verbatim, it wasn't very flattering. Thank you for a nice experience .

The receptionist for Dr. Shah was very nice, good eye contact and listened well. Gentleman who did the initial eye tests drops, etc. was gentle, careful and kind. Dr. Shah is very personable and explains things in layman's terms. My only complaint was giving me paperwork about refraction/regular eye exam and seeming to think I was there for that, when my records show and I explained when making the appointment that I was not here for that. Thank you for an otherwise great experience!

Staff and dr were great and explained everything clearly. My only criticism was I waited around 45 min after my appointment time to get started. I usually walk out after 30 min at all my other drs offices. 30 min is annoying but anything longer really is unacceptable

My appointment went great.

Dr. McAllister was extremely positive and engaging with my mother (the patient) who became 94 on the date of her appointment. He found ways to measure her vision and health of the eye while in her wheelchair without adding stress that she could not access the chair. He spoke directly to her with eye contact always on her (even getting on his knees to obtain measurements) and genuinely interested in obtaining the best assessment for her. The office staff exhibited the same kindness as has always been shown to me when a patient. Thank you to all for making this experience positive. Once again Dr. McAllister and staff have my utmost respect for a most professionally run office. Patient care comes first...this is evident!

The medical staff as always, is super professional, personable, tremendously helpful, and very informative. It is without a doubt, my favorite doctor’s office to visit. Quite honestly, prior to becoming a patient of Dr. Vu- Gia, and her staff few years ago, the thought of visiting any type of ophthalmologist for an eye examination, was at best, a scary and difficult concept. I arrived at 2:45 for a 3 PM appointment, 2:55 if you count the time it took me to figure out where the office was and what floor I entered on. At 3:40 I was still sitting in the office waiting to be seen by someone. Either I was given a time much earlier than when I was to be seen or someone was behind in their appointments. That would have been fine but someone could have had the courtesy to tell me what was happening.

Dr Oliver was very kind and explained the results of my exam well.

Staff was welcoming. I was called in to see the doctor quickly. The nurse was efficient and friendly and the doctor was professional and informative.

I really liked Dr. Martin. I could tell that he actually listened and cared about my future treatment plan. He was also good at answering questions and explaining things to me and he didn't rush me.

It would be helpful if the scheduler could tell the parent ahead of time that the child will need pupil dilation. That way we can anticipate the extra 30 minutes required for the dilation process on top of the regular appointment.

Dr. Martin was fantastically patient with my dad (99 yrs old) during the exam. There aren't a lot of doctors who are as patient with their geriatric patients as he always is. His tech (I wish I could remember her name) was also incredibly helpful managing him to get the results she needed, as well as his physical limitations getting in and out of the room. As always, you folks are awesome!

This office is very friendly and efficient. I was given an appointment with the doctor I requested. When I arrived, I filled out an update form and was seen promptly. My eyes were examined and dilated by a very professional assistant. Once dilated, Dr. Bruno saw me and did all the tests required to diagnose my issue. I went away feeling I had received the best of care with a plan to return in a year to monitor my growing cataract issue in anticipation of surgery when seeing is a bit more of a problem than now. I did not feel rushed to surgery at all; but, rather became aware that this may be in the future. All good. My husband had a wonderfully life-altering experience with his cataract surgery with Dr. Bruno, which means I have faith in her to do mine.

The intake process was efficient with an aide collecting some preliminary information. Dr. Martin came in shortly thereafter, conducted a thorough examination, and provided a very clear understanding of my vision issues and completely answered all of my questions. I thought the visit was very competently managed.

Wait times are too long

I appreciate how Dr. Shah explained her diagnosis and treatment plan in terms that no other doctor has, including those at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore. I explained to her my eye expectations and so far (48 hrs later) my eye pain has significantly improved as following her treatment plan. I also appreciate her “bedside manner!!”

The doctor was very nice in explaining. But my eyes were dilated even after 24 hours, the blurry effect did not go. I went to school yesterday and could not see well in class and had a bad headache because of that. Please let me know how to make the blurriness go. I was told the dilation effect will last only 4-5 hours.

Dr Tram was very friendly, warm and a very knowledgable doctor and my husband and I felt very comfortable with her. The clinic is also very easy to get to, and parking is so easy too. The clinic itself is very clean and has a very good atmosphere. I do recommend this place.

Unexpectedly I was not on the list of patients to be seen today, but Sara managed to get the situation resolved. I was seen by Dr. Ellis because I have diplopia. He was the first ophthalmological physician, in the past 10-months, who said that he could address my problem.

The staff was great as was our doctor. Dr McAlister worked very well with Billy (special neds). We were disappointed with the long wait to see the doctor. Billy's appointment was for 3:30. We arrived at 3:00 and did not see the doctor until almost 5. I realize these things happen but it was still a long wait. Other than that everything was great.

Entire experience was excellent. Dr. Bruno was thorough and has a fabulous chair-side manner. Actually, the whole experience was the best I’ve had in weeks.

I found the service to be very efficient yet friendly, a difficult combination. I also received sound practical advice that saved me a lot of money ~ far more than what the exam costed (I asked about the benefits of advanced lenses; the doctor opined my condition did not warrant such an expensive investment).

Although the appointment went well; it took much longer than expected. Filled out form waited (that’s expected). Then receive eye exam and some basic test (ie glaucoma rest) from technician. Then waited again for optometrist who did a quick eye exam and more thorough eye health assessment (beyond basic glaucoma test). I wish I just saw the optometrist.

My experience with Dr. McAteer and staff were excellent. Due to the urgency of my case, they were able to get me an appointment with the Retina Clinic and had my laser surgery on the day itself (Oct. 12). If we had delayed it, we don’t know what might have happened to my right eye. It will take some time to get rid of my floaters but at least the doctor was able to fix my torn retina to avoid retina detachment. Thank you so much for the excellent service!! Greatly appreciated. Overall visit was good. I was not happy with the part of upfront deductible payment part without an insurance claim file or incur $25 fee for sending the bill. As some times the insurance covers more than the pre agreed price which results in repaying to the customer and customer has to re deposit to the HSA account, which adds a hassle to everyone involved. For HSA payees, NVOA can alternatively place the HSA card on file for this particular transaction and deduct after insurance completes processing the claim. Some providers do that.

I have been a patient of Northern Virginia Opthamology for many years. I have always felt that they have my best interests at heart and trust them with my health. I highly recommend this practice.

Although I could not be treated for my eye problem, Dr. Shah was very attentive and understanding. She let me explain to her my condition and she was informative and helpful with recommendations for specialists. If I ever have another eye problem that she can treat, I'd gladly make an appointment with her again.

He did cataract surgery on my right eye several years ago and, although I've moved from Vienna to a retirement home called Ashby Ponds in Ashburn, i want him to do the surgery on my left eye soon. Initial exam by assistant to Dr. Forster was thorough and she made some helpful comments. (Sorry, don’t remember her name.) Exam with Dr. F was again thorough and I didn’t feel rushed. Assisted me with having my current glasses adjusted by one of the optometrists and that was very fruitful.

I was very satisfied with my field exam, which was conducted by a nice gentleman and a female trainee. I was also happy to see Dr. McAteer who confirmed that I was an excellent candidate for cataract surgery. I just felt bad that she suffered a broken leg. “Feel better, Doctor M!”

I have had the privilege of going to Northern Virginia Opthomology for the past 40 years. I think that the doctors are the absolute best in the field and would never go anywhere else. I highly recommend them to everyone.

They’re very helpful and friendly you feel like you know them in long time . The Dr. take time to explain everything and answer all your questions. His very nice . I am so happy with them and I will recommend to every one who I know

Dr. Seidman is extremely knowledgeable and cares about his patients. Over the past two years, he went out of his way to find a reason for my child's sudden unexplained vision loss. He has been wonderful in keeping me and my child's medical team updated as well. Staff is friendly and helpful, especially in making accommodations for my child's health issues. I am extremely pleased with this doctor and recommend him to others.

Dr. Martin and his team are smart and focused professionals, always providing the right path to solutions. In my opinion he is the best. If there were a better eye doc around, I would go certainly go there.

Dr. Forster was nice and both he and the woman who saw me before him made my visit as pleasant as possible, especially since I had to experience some discomfort in order for the doctor to thoroughly examine my eyes. Very friendly people who made me comfortable from start to finish. My only problem is that the receptionist who I handed the doctor’s notes to (her name was Melissa I think, she sat on the end closest to the examination room) was rather passive aggressive when explaining the practice’s insurance and out of pocket policies to me and my father. I understand it can be frustrating at times when patients don’t understand, but she could have exercised more patience and grace rather than ending her explanations with a flat “You don’t have to come back, then.” Not very professional and, though I will not return anyway due to not having any medical conditions that my insurance can cover, I am discouraged nonetheless from continuing especially if I have any complex insurance questions to ask.

I wish the doctor and assistant were more welcoming as it was our first visit. My daughter was very nervous and the doctor did little to converse with her beyond sight questions. There was no "welcome to our practice" or "thanks for coming". A bit more description of what they were doing during testing would have helped calm down my child, such as why they were putting in eye drops etc. Postive notes...office was clean, quick, staff helpful, nice decor and knowledgeable in answering questions.
