We loved everything about Dr. Diora. We did not, however, have a good experience with assistant Natalie. We understand that there may have been several patients during our visit, however she does not seem to understand that a toddler cannot be rushed unless you wish to traumatize the child or have a full blown out tantrum. Obviously, a toddler would need time to recover from the initial eye drops for dilating. Instead of waiting a few minutes, she held down my toddler’s head on her lap, forced her eyes to open, and delivered the second set of eye drops. She said it was a normal thing to do, and I was horrified. I kept apologizing and hugging my child afterward to try and calm down. It was really great that Dr. Diora was nothing like Natalie. It was very obvious that she had been around children before. She was very calm and patient, and even sang songs to calm down my child and make the exam go smoothly.

I was a little rattled when I got to my appointment due to a bad Uber ride, but front desk staff was very calming. My testing for double vision by the tech was very thorough and interesting because in 63 years of wearing glasses I had never had any of the tests she administered. Dr. Morrison also gave a very complete exam. I felt the questions she asked probed for understanding beyond surface information from test results. She had a caring attitude towards me as a patient. Really liked Dr. Shah. But you really need to tell new patients that their insurance is not accepted for routine eye exams unless the patient has a medical condition. My husband canceled his appointment because he did not know this and did not want to incur an additional expense.

First trip back in a few years. Found the experience just as pleasant as the prior visit. Friendly staff, informative sessions while in the exam chair. Would suggest two items: 1) Provide patients, especially first-timers, a reminder about the parking situation so they can factor that into their travel time for appointments. I lot about 10 mins. locating the garage and looking for a space. 2) When patients make their first-time appointments, give them the option of your emailing them the forms to fill out and bring to the first appointment. Better still would be an option to have patients fill them out online so that all you had to do was review the forms and then download into your database. Both would streamline paitient flow into the office. Food for thought!

This was the first appointment with NVO and overall the experience was good. The reception area is large and welcoming. I would have given five stars but because of my severe astigmatism, they could not complete my exam for contact lenses and were not able to see me again at the Alexandria location until the end of April. Instead, I was offered an appointment in Falls Church at the end of March. Not convenient.

Dr. McAllister and his assistant were very professional and extremely thorough, knowledgeable, and kind. Could not say more good things about them. The front office staff was helpful but I guess for our next experience we will have to be sure to ask the right questions about the cost and how the billing is done. We were taken by surprise with the practice of having someone pay the entire cost upfront then if you find a particular item is not covered then you are charged $25 extra later when billed or something like that. I did not ask but assume that you would probably expect folks to wait a month or so to get funds back after you are paid by the insurance company (certainly one can make more money on other peoples money if you wait a month). If this is the case then I wonder if it is an ethical business practice or just a way to make more money. Certainly I do appreciate that some customers are late in sending their payments and that impacts your business but I have noticed many unethical business practices lately from many "medical related businesses". Please accept I am not saying this is the case about your office but just expressing my overall concerns about the practices I have noticed lately about those who had inspiration to provide a service to others. Also accept please that we really like and appreciate the medical work of Dr. McAllister and his Assistant.

Dr. Nancy Morrison is a very knowledgeable professional and a kind person, which is the reason I brought my daughter Adra to her for the annual check-up, after I had been a patient already. I have been recommending her to family and friends. The only unusual thing about the visit was that the front office charged me an estimate of the deductible in advance. The beginning was not a great experience. The appt was at 9:00 AM but did not see the Dr until 10:00. I almost left. I went in for a cataract consultation and spent the first hour going through a standard optometry exam. When the Dr finally arrive she took one look and said "yes" you need cataract surgery. Not only was the first hour a waste of time but the tech put eye drops to dilate and when I was done, I could hardly see to drive home. No warning. But Dr Kahn was excellent,

The doctor and staff were great with my baby. But no one told me they dilated her eyes so she was screaming in her car seat on the way home anytime the sun hit her face and I didn’t know why till I got her home and looked.

I Have been a patient of Dr Forster for 27 years. I Have recommended him & the NoVa Opthamology practice to many. he discovered my torn retina & advised successful treatment. A few years later he recognized a bleeding vein behind the other eye of which I was unaware due to limited vision in that eye. That was also resolved successfully. I & other family members hold Dr Forster in highest regard.

I have received my ophthalmology care from NoVA Ophthalmology Associates (Dr Martin) for several years. The experience is always first rate - professional, timely, patient-focused. I wish all healcare services were like that which you all provide. Thank you!

In the past an appt would involve at least 2 hours of waiting to go in and then waiting more. This time maybe 5 minutes in the waiting room and the dr saw me promptly I was in and out in less than a hour

Front desk/reception was kind. helpful and so organized and friendly. De. Morrison was amazing! And my intake person (who saw me before the doctor) was incredible...kind, experienced, professional and went above and beyond to make me feel comfortable and to ensure that my exam was thorough. (Signage to building not so great, but once I got there, it was wonderful).

Having seen Dr. Rich for 40 years, it was a pleasure to meet Dr. Martin and have him assume my eye care. I was taken right on time. The entire appointment was a positive experience.

My 1 year daughter had her eyes dialiated during her visit. We have never had to deal with this personally or for a child - we weren't given any specific instructions for how to proceed the rest of her day since they had been dialiated. We were upset to hear her daycare said she cried alot from being outside and was rubbing her eyes constantly from the sunlight. We would have kept her home the remainder of the day if we knew there would be sensitivity issues. Please don't assume patients know about the effects of certain treatments or procedures, especially if its a first visit.

I think this practice does a great job for pediatric eye care. I've been very happy taking my daughter to this group for the last 3 years and I plan to continue with them throughout her childhood.

All went well, except Alexandria was way too long a drive for me from Reston. I prefer Chantilly, but there were scheduling issues. Also, perhaps because I was the first appointment of the day, the screens for checking vision took a long time to become operable in two different rooms.

Hi. The experience was positive -- thank you. And thanks for being patient with my skittishness about having anyone fiddle in or near my eyes. One suggestion/comment -- re the forms to be filled out before the exam, there was one entry that struck me as impossibly silly. The question was something like "Have you ever had a condition that required medical attention? If so, explain." And there were 2 lines for that explanation/those explanations. I don't know anyone who hasn't had multiple "conditions" requiring medical attention during a lifetime. Thanks! Bruce W

In and out quickly with almost no wait

Overall, I liked the office, but I found the reception desk to be unhelpful and not welcoming. We loved the kids's play area and our experience with Dr. Morrison. However, at reception, I wasn't greeted or given any forms to fill out until I asked after about 10 minutes, and the receptionist acted like I was bothering her. When I finally received the forms, there were several typographical errors - the child's name and address I had provided over the phone were all misspelled, and the wrong gender had been selected - and I pointed this out to the receptionist who didn't seem to acknowledge there was a problem. I don't mind that things get misheard over the phone, I just expect that it be addressed if I point it out at the office. There was never any confirmation that it was changed, so hopefully it doesn't cause an error in processing our insurance.

Sadly, I have to cofess, that it took an inordinate amount of time before I actually saw Dr. McAteer. This has never happened before. I was not in any particular hurry to get out of the office.

Hey, I do not know what yelp and google are. You ALL did a great JOB. Best visit to a doctors office that I ever had and I am 81 years old. That is how a visit should be handled.

The only thing I have to say is that when the tech and/or doc does the refraction test - you know the one that has "which is better 1 or 2" it really needs to be done slower (I had to tell the tech to slow down). People's eyes don't adjust that quickly, esp, us older folks but other than that everyone was great.

Dr. Morrison is friendly, personable, attentive, and most importantly incredibly knowledgeable about optometry. My highest praise and recommendations.

We loved the calm, professional environment. I was in with my young toddler and appreciated the designated waiting area for children. It was clean and had just enough space and toys for him. Both the nurse and doctor were great to work with. We never felt rushed, and had all of our questions answered. Looking forward to our next visit. Thanks!

My appt started on time. Dr Tran was very personable and patiently answered all my questions. I was able to get an estimate on my new prescription before leaving so I can do some price comparisons. Quick, professional and friendly service!

I'm a new patient; the office is nice and the staff is very friendly. Since I'm an adult and brought myself to see the doctor, maybe you could streamline the forms. The forms as is; very confusing because of the child information requested. Other than that, Dr. Morrison is awesome. She explained my problem and showed what she was talking about on a diagram. I understood exactly what the problem was. Thanks so much!!

This was my first visit. Very efficient operation. Except for the doctor, I felt the others I interfaced with could be a lot more personable. There is more than one way to ask the question "Why are you here."

Visit was great - however would appreciate heads up when booking appointment to set expectation that it would take over an hour.
