I live in the Washington DC area, and was in Utica, NY visiting my family when one evening I started seeing flashers out of my right eye. I had been told by my ophthalmologist that should that ever happen, get to a doctor ASAP. I had no idea where to go, so I went to my aunt's eye clinic when they opened the next morning and they said their only retina specialist was in surgery all day, but recommended the Mohawk Valley Retina Center (which I had never even heard of, even though I'd been born and raised in Utica). It was about 4 miles away so I went there. It was an amazing new facility and even though the waiting room was full, the receptionists listened to what I told them, got the number and info of my own retina specialist in the DC area so they could get her records, set me up to see Dr. Williams that afternoon, and I went back there that afternoon. They did some tests, took pictures, dilated me, I met with Dr. Williams, and he showed me that I'd torn my retina. He did emergency surgery right then and there (took about 3 minutes with no pain), and said I should do a follow-up with my doctor back in DC. I asked if I was okay to drive myself back to my aunt's house (again, 4 miles away), and he said I should be fine, but if I was uncomfortable about it, give him a few minutes and he'd arrange to have someone drive my car back and Uber themselves back to the clinic (I was fine driving). The receptionists set up my follow-up appt with my own doctor for the following week; my surgeon said that Dr. Williams had done a terrific job and everything was fine, and set me up to see her again in 3 months. All I can say is that the Mohawk Valley Retina Center - all the staff (receptionists, technicians, nurses, and surgeons) - were professional, calming, cheerful, and incredibly helpful and skilled. I was lucky and I am very appreciative and thankful to all of them.

My appt. with Mohawk Valley Retina was great. Incoming receptionist was very thorough and polite. The rest of the staff that put the required drops in were efficient, and pleasant. And the testing that you go through, the staff were considerate, on your comfort and eye levels. Then to see Dr. S. Williams and listen to him and be able to put my confidence in his work, well that is all it is about. Trusting the Doctor, and listening to the advice will help all patients.

You need a TV in your waiting room. Otherwise, everything was professional, staff was pleasant, and the visit went smoothly and quickly. I didn't have to wait too long at any point as I went from room to room.

All the people were very professional, competent and friendly. I was very pleased with the attention given my circumstances and the treatment of my condition.. The only reason I didn't given the highest rating was some extended delays in my treatment. I was concerned about leaving my wife, who has ms and is in a wheelchair, for longer than the anticipated time for my appointment.

As always my experience with Mohawk Valley Retina was wonderful. The nurse interview was precise and thorough. Dr. Williams was as always very patient in explaining the answers to all my concerns and I felt relieved after his exam that he checked every concern I had. We are lucky to have him in our area. They are the best!

It has been A long haul, but The doctors, and the help from all the other people associated with them have done A great job. I can now see very well through my right eye that was very bad.

I'm writing because I'm not very computer savvy then again I don't want to miss this opportunity to say how wonderful Mohawk Valley retina is and of course my physician Dr. Gale. The entire team is very professional and friendly and most accommodating I can't say enough good things about my experience there with the staff and with Dr Gale. Very professional friendly atmosphere. I felt confident I had good eye care.

I didn't have to wait too long in the waiting room. My whole appt. was over in less than an hour. I felt that Dr. Gale made me feel better about some of my concerns. I have to come back in 2-3 months and perhaps have a test to look at the back of my eye. I thought that the vision had changed in my right eye, but perhaps I had been confused which eye had changed. Everyone was helpful - I always feel better when I leave your office. Thanks again...

Everyone on your staff is so warm and caring, while being very professional. Dr. Williams is so kind and an excellent doctor. Having to be treated for vision loss is a scary and stressful time, but everyone at Mohawk Valley Retina helps ease the fears I experience.
