La Mesa Vision Care has been there for me for many years. I'd say 30 years or ever since they moved to La Mesa. They are one of the few places I know of that specializes in low vision as well as regular vision.

Granted a prompt appointment. Dr. Hixson asked leading questions and listened intently to all of my answers. In addition, he conducted tests and combined this information into a diagnosis of early stage macular degeneration. The doctor also increased the magnification of my glasses and updated my prescription to account for worsening astigmatism. He updated my prescription and ordered special sunglasses for me. In addition, the Dr. thoroughly explained the problems I'm having. All very much appreciated.

However, when I got in the exam room with Dr. Hixson and he began pulling out his tools, I knew I was in the right place. He did an excellent job with my husband and daughter as well. I have been using la mesa vision care and Dr Hixson for years. Very professional, reasonable price, and he doesn't push anything on you that you don't need or are not comfortable with! They are the best!

My only reason for 4 instead of 5 is the wait time. Front desk alittle inefficient regarding getting paperwork done. I was a new patient and the front office was alittle behind getting the paperwork to me and entering into computer. Doctor Hixon couldn't have been nicer and I had a very thorough exam.

The staff is efficient and friendly! I was early for my appointment and was seen ahead of schedule. The Doctor is charming and extremely talented. The testing is comprehensive and gave me a great since of relief. All and all I think La Mesa Vision is the best on the West Coast!

I called LM Vision first thing in the morning for an appt to see Dr. Hixson. I got to see him @1:30 that same day. He examined my eye to look for a foreign object that I thought was the problem. Since it was a short, simple process he didn't even charge for the visit. As always he was very kind and accommodating. Wonderful man!😀

I scheduled an appointment 1 1/2 weeks before at 8:00 am directly with the office staff. When I arrived for my scheduled appointment, the hours sign on the door stated 9:00-5:00 on that day. I checked my email and discovered that my appointment had changed to 4:00 on the same day. I returned at 9:00am to try to get in and asked about my appointment only to find out that they did not even have me on the schedule. Fortunately Dr Hickson made room for me. A bad schedueling situation was fixed by the doctor.

I've been going to see Dr. Hixson at La Mesa Vision for many years and have always received the same quality service from the Dr and his staff including the technicians, I've been very happy with my progressive glasses I use one pair to see, read, use the computer, sunglasses, etc, and the last couple of years they've added a new machine that checks your retine, Iris and inside of your eyes to make sure you won't have future problems, which is a magnificent prevention issue. Dr. Hixson is the only eye doctor we will use because he is not just about the prescription numbers: he regards patient's individual quirks and offers solutions that will work for the patient as a whole. I have actually had an eye doctor insist that my prescription did not change, despite my protestations to the contrary. That doctor's answer was "well, yes it did, but it's not noticeable." In contrast, Dr. Hixson pays attention to the patient when considering what is necessary or not. Dr. Hixson is the most caring, thoughtful, thorough eye doctor you can get.

I felt that the office staff was very professional. I also believe the care I received was superb. My only suggestion is to use a lint roller on the common area patient chairs to remove human/pet hair.

I was very impressed with the exam. All of my little eyesight issues were discussed and incorporated into the recommendation. I’m excited to try contacts for the first time.

Friendly efficient staff from the front desk through the preliminary and post-visit testing. Tom Hixson does a thorough exam and explains what he’s doing as he goes.

The exam was quick and thorough. The tests were also quick. Overall experience great. Only reason 4 stars I was told I would be shown right in after I completed the form and I had to wait 15 min.
