Previous to this, I had always heard that root canals were one of the most painful, and hideous, procedures to have done. Dr. M., start to finish was done in less than 45 minutes, and I've had no more discomfort from this, than I've had from a normal tooth filling. I have been pleasantly surprised with the overall process.

I was in CO from NJ last week, two days before Christmas when I began experiencing oral pain. The pain was increasing to the point where I knew I wouldn’t make it back to NJ to see my dentist (who recommended I see an endodontist ASAP). I quickly looked online for a local and highly rated local doctor knowing it was a long shot trying and getting a quick appointment. Dr. McMurtrey and his staff pulled through for me! They were busy but squeeezed me into their schedule, gave three options to relieve the pain and hours later I was improving and by Christmas Day I was pain free. His five star online rating is well deserved and I would highly recommend him.

It’s was my first root canal. So glad I went to such a professional place. Absolutely no pain whatsoever! I think the only thing I would of liked is for the doc or asst to give me a half way point...since I couldn’t talk. I was really impressed how efficient the whole staff worked together. Great job and I will always refer you guys to everyone I know.

Before and during procedure = awesome! But a few things that I noticed about the after part: A) I have double dental insurance but I still had to pay the $150. No one at the front desk told me that if my entire procedure will be covered by insurance (including the $150 I paid as my upfront cost) that I will get a refund. I honestly thought I would not have to pay anything until AFTER both of my insurance companies were billed. I just saw on my dental pages (when checking to see if this endo was in network) that the out of pocket cost was $150, but I was assuming that that was for one insurance. B) When I asked about any food precautions the nurse told me there were none. Hold up. You just handed me a prescription for Vicodan, but you want me to believe I can go hog wild on peanut brittle with a temporary clay filling in a hole in my crown/tooth?! Cute. That tooth has a crack directly down a filling which is being protected by a crown. Probably should re evaluate what you tell people because if someone doesn't have a science background/Bachelor's Degree like I do, they will probably 100% believe you and then get mad at you if they hurt themselves because you told them it was cool. C) No one told me any aftercare. Thankfully I called in sick that day (super thankful since my mouth was numb for a solid 10 in a half hours). They went over my prescriptions, yes but no one told things to expect, when to call if I am worried (which I currently am and the office is closed with no on call message to be heard). I have a crown and I want to make sure what I am feeling is 110% okay. I was honestly surprised when I went through my "receipt" and all I found was insurance breakdowns and nothing about what to expect/do in the coming days after the procedure. Should probably fix that. My dentist recommended me to this office because she no longer does root canals on molars. So now I have to call a dentist who may or may not be able to tell me what's going on is okay. And you are closed for the next 3 days (counting today though, 4).

I knew I was in good hands all around. Marg was excellent and kept me informed every inch of the way . Dr McMuttrey was also excellent, I didn’t feel any pain or discomfort. Dr. McMurtrey also explained everything in terms that were easy to understand. The front desk gals were friendly, courteous and knowledgeable about insurance stuff.

This was my first root canal, so I was pretty scared going in. But Dr. McMurtrey and his staff work hard at keeping patients pain-free and comfortable. I had some pain in the middle of the procedure, but Dr. mcMurtrey stopped right away and numbed me some more. His assistant was very friendly and she kept me calm the whole time. I really liked The Wave for cleaning out the canal. I think that it probably increases the chances of having a full recovery without a second procedure, and it clears the infection really well. I did experience some facial paralysis, and am still working at getting my smile back. But I understand that when a lot of anesthetic is used, it can cause the nerve to take longer to recover, so I'm not too concerned about that. It's getting better each day. One more thing: Dr. McMurtrey gives a prescription of prednisone along with pain meds, which work well at alleviating the inflammation from not only the infection, but also the procedure. I took exactly as he instructed, and it's healing well. I only had to use the Motrin for two days, and have not had any further pain. If I had to get another root canal, this is where I would go.

This was the second root canal in a little more than a month and I had been in discomfort for weeks, so it seemed harder for me although everyone was very kind.

Great staff very friendly. Didn't have to wait long to be called in for the x-ray. The results were almost immediate.

I have never had a root canal and the whole staff was Great. They made sure I was comfortable and I experienced no pain. If I would need further dental work of this nature I would use Dr. Mcmurtrey DDS again.

When I called and related my symptoms, I was offered an appointment the very same day. The assistant was compassionate and really listened to my complaints, asking many questions to help determine treatment. After consulting with Dr. McMurtrey, she explained his recommendation of taking a conservative approach with meds and if that isn't effective, what the alternatives are. I left feeling encouraged that Dr. McMurtrey will determine what is causing the pain and will take care of it. I went feeling frustrated and left feeling reassured! Thank you!

I am a new client here, referred on an emergency basis for a 1st root canal for myself. Upon arrival I was impressed with the premises. It created a pleasant atmosphere. I was greeted right away by the front office staff who expected me. The procedure of 1.5 hr was made as pleasant as possible. Dr. Mcmurtrey is a true professional, explaining the process to a rookie to this procedure. As was his assistant (I'm terrible at remembering names) who kept me at ease throughout. A true professional she is. The way these two worked in concert can only be explained as 'poetry-in-motion.' After-care was explained, and 3-days out it has been pain free, ever since the numbness wore off. Myself at 60+ years old am not impressed by much anymore. This practice I was very impressed with. I cannot express my thanks enough. It's so nice to be able to chew totally pain free for the first time in 11 months. This practice has the process nailed-down perfectly. From the front of the house to the back, all are pleasant and professional. I will, and have already recommended this practice for professional endodontic needs. Thank-you so much.

Two (2) root canals in one sitting! As you can imaging I was very apprehensive about this, but it had to be done in order to save two teeth. The office was a little hard to find but the decor and surroundings are very pleasant. Dr. McMurtrey's assistant Marge was fantastic in putting me at ease and explaining the before and after procedure in a very professional manner. She offered me the "laughing gas" which I initially declined, but after she explained how it would help, I accepted it and was glad I did. I felt no pain throughout the entire procedure even the numbing injection. The only discomfort I had was a tired jaw from having to keep my mouth open for about 2 hours. Dr. McMurtrey was great but I was only able to get a peek at him while the procedure was going on. My only recommendation would be for Dr. McMurtrey to introduce himself prior to the "laughing gas." ( A little more bedside manner) I will definitely recommend Dr. McMurtrey's office to anyone to anyone needing Endodontic work. Thank you Dr. McMurtrey and Marge.

It’s hard to give a positive review when talking about a root canal, but honestly, I don’t think it could have gone any better. The staff was amazing. Very professional and personable. I felt they genuinely cared about my comfort and well being. I hope I never have to go back, but if I do... that’s the only place I will go.

I have to say, the experience of getting my first root canal wasn’t as bad as I thought! I was terrified of course, but everyone in the office made me feel very comfortable, and they kept reassuring me every step of the way and let me know what was happening at all times.

Bobbie(?correct) was great ! She knew what to say and do to keep me calm since I have had limited teeth issues. The procedure was not painful. I wish I had met Dr McMurtry before anything started. I only needed one tramwdol probably because I couldn’t swallow very well in the first 3 hours. Water kept coming out of my nose when I tried to take the pills. I was a little freaked out by this! So I initially had 4 Advil not the Motrin and didn’t take a Tylenol soon enough. However after I could swallow and took all of the meds and one tremadol the soreness and pain improved rapidly! Bobbie thank you for your patience. I’m doing fine today!

I had some heavy duty procedures, that make me nervous to think about. You took great care to make sure I was numb and sedated, and it didn't hurt. I really appreciate that and the excellent work you do. Dentists of all types scare me, but a visit to you doesn't - first time ever for dentist visits. Even the surgery wasn't very painful after the numbness wore off, and the Vicodin and Ibuprofen more than took care of any pain. I had expected to have a painful couple of days and it didn't happen.
