Short Version: The staff at Cornerstone Endodontics are true professionals. Upon entering their office space, they try and succeed in placing you at ease with a warming smile and liquid refreshment while waiting to meet your doctor. Finding out that they offer a single price cost for a root canal that includes six-month follow-up examination was unexcepted and a nice touch. If you are having a root canal, I strongly recommend Dr. Joon Kim as your dentist. I meet with him three times: consult, the procedure, and follow-up examination. During every meeting, he was a professional who will greet you with a smile and genuinely wanted to answer every question asked. His approach will automatically place you at ease. As a layman, like myself, it appears his examination room, besides having a great view of Row Avenue, has cutting edge proven technological. This led to a successful execution and painless root canal for me. Obvious I can only speak about my experience with Dr. Kim on these three occasions: • Consultation and Initial Examination: He confirmed that I must have a root canal. He answered all my questions clearly. I felt comfortable during the examination with no pain. He placed me at ease. This meeting allowed me to create a relationship with him before committing to having the root canal. • Procedure: He explained each step he was taking along making sure I felt comfortable. At any time, when he was sensing I may be nervous or was having a concern he would stop to make sure I was fine before proceeding. During the entire process of the root canal I was surprise and relieved that I did not encounter any pain. I can only contribute this to his knowledge, work ethic, and countless years of perfecting his trade. • Follow-up Examination: As he warmly greeted me as a friend, Dr. Kim explained the before and after views of my tooth. He clearly answered all my questions. My root canal was a success because of Dr. Kim and his staff. I strongly recommend anyone requiring a root canal to have Dr. Kim as their dentist. I consider him outstanding in his trade. Long Version: Let me give you some background about what lead me to Cornerstone Endodontics and my dental situation. My childhood familiarity in visiting the family dentist was never a positive experience. This was mostly my faulty because of poor dental hygiene while growing up that result is a mouthful of cavities. As an adult, it seemed every dentist I visited complimented me on the skill and work performed by my childhood dentist. As I became older, I notice other family members and friends who were beginning to age that they were losing their teeth to decay because of neglect. If fact my boss one day during a staff meeting mention his own regrets and wished, he had maintained the necessity of good dental hygiene during his lifetime. Realizing this was my destiny, I embarked on significantly changing my dental outlook and daily behavior. Fortunately, in 1995, I finally found a dentist which gained my complete and total trust, Dr. James S. Craig who continues to be my family dentist. Besides having a wonderful bedside manner, he was able to recognize my nervousness and was quickly able to calm my concerns. Moreover, having my teeth cleaned three times a year (my choice) by his outstanding denial hygienists (Tammy and later Patty), he created a process to monitor my teeth which made me fully aware of their health at each visit. As for his office staff they are professional who place you at ease by treating everyone I have observed over the years as valued friends and not clients. It is so reassuring and extremely refreshing that Dr. Craig has been able retain such an outstanding staff of extraordinary professionals for so many decades. During these past 24 years, I have had most of those damaged childhood teeth replaced with crowns. This was successfully done by his outstanding skill as a dentist and his talented (wonderful) dental assistant Cindy. As each tooth began to fail, they were replaced at his urging but at my pace. Believing I have been taken every foreseeable precaution of good dental hygiene, I was shocked during a routine cleaning in December 2018, that I had an abscess tooth. I had no memory of tooth trauma nor was there any pain. All I had was a small white bump or pimple along the gum line. It was confirmed by Dr. Craig after examining the x-ray. The tooth’s nerve was dying if not already dead and a bacterial infection had already begun. His reasoning why I felt no pain was the abscess was draining though this pimple into my mouth. He recommended Cornerstone Endodontics for a root canal because they are one if not the best group of doctors at doing this type of work in the Kansas City area. He strongly suggested I have this procedure done sooner than later. Anybody who knows me, realizes after a few minutes I ask a truckload full of questions if I am unclear about a situation before deciding on a course of action. I bombard him with everything I could think of about this subject with no success. I asked about draining the abscess with a needle to injecting it directly with antibiotics. All of questions were a resounding no. AT THIS TIME IT WILL NOT SAVE THE NERVE WITHIN THE TOOTH. He stated there was only one path to save the tooth and that is by having a root canal. Or take the more unpleasant path and let the tooth resolve itself over time. This will result in the tooth being pulled plus the danger of causing additional problems to surrounding teeth and the jawbone itself. Neither of those two options I liked or embraced, but Dr. Craig has always been direct and honesty in his dealings with me, so I agreed to schedule a consultation with Cornerstone Endodontics. I arrived on January 9, 2019 to meet with Dr. Joon Kim with my consult. I was not planning on having the root canal that day because I wanted to create a relationship with Dr. Kim and have a better understand of the process and wanted to confirm that I needed root canal. I planned on asking my truckload full of questions since my tooth was still not giving me any pain or discomfort. Showing up at the appointed time, the staff greeted me very warmly and took all the necessary information on getting me entered into their patient system. The offered liquid refreshments while I waited to meet Dr. Kim. I will admit I was not in the right frame of mind, because I did not want or think I needed a root canal at that time. I will be the first to admit that I am a dinosaur when it comes to greeting people for the first time. I normally try to greet people with a handshake. Upon meeting Dr. Kim, he would not shake my hand but proceeded directly into the consult. I do not know why this bother me, but it did. Later after thinking about it, I realized, he doesn’t know me and there are weird people in this world who take pleasure in squeezing your hand unnecessity too hard. He makes it livelihood with his hands. Why take the chance with a stranger. I get it now, but not during the consult. During the consult I mention, Dr. Craig had already taken x-rays of the tooth in December. They stated a detail x-ray of the tooth nerve was required to properly examine the tooth accurately. It was all business during the examination, and he was extremely professional in describing what he was doing and confirming that the nerve was dead. The only viable option at this point was to schedule a root canal. Delaying or not having root canal probably would result in the lost of the tooth which may cause additional dental problems with the surrounding teeth and jaw. After he completed the examination, I asked the same questions I had asked with Dr. Craig with the same responses. There is no doubt in my mind that Dr. Kim knows his business and was extremely specialized in his chosen craft. He gave me the facts and left me to make this decision without exhibiting any pressure on me to schedule the root canal. Later in January I found that my insurance did not cover the consultation which I expected but was surprised it did not cover the x-ray. After asking staff about my claim, they stated that 95% of insurance companies do not accept this x-ray classification in processing insurance claims. This troubled me. Why as a common courtesy, a simple explanation about this prior to the x-ray regarding the possible problem with insurance is all I wish they had said to avoid this unnecessary surprise. I decided to take a wait and see approach until March 2019 when I asked for a consult with Dr. Craig to discuss my meeting with Dr. Kim and the status of my tooth. Between January to March, I popped this pimple frequently thinking I was helping to drain the abscess and assisting my body in working on fighting the infection. Again, I had no pain at all. Dr. Craig knew knows me and my concerns. He knows about my experience in dental offices with past dentists, so he took the time to again educate me on the why, how, and what happens when a nerve is dead. He spent a generous amount his time exanimating this tooth and re-answering the same dumb questions I asked in December. Once our consult was concluded he stated in pasting “Cowboy Up and get your root canal now. Stop delaying”. He knows me so well! So, I made my appointment with Cornerstone Endodontics the very next day and had my root canal on March 20, 2019. Dr. Craig changed my mind and my attitude in getting the root canal and probably saved me from major future dental problems. Having a much better attitude on accepting my faith, the Cornerstone Endodontics staff was again very welcoming and friendly in greeting me. Dr. Kim very pleasantly and surprising shocked me by initiating shaking my hand after arriving in the examination room. He clearly explained everything which was about to happen making sure I was to inform him if I was having any issues before he started. This placed me at ease, and I knew I was in good hands. At every step he explained what was happening and would frequently stop to make sure I was alright. My mind would race that I should be encountering pain but there was none or very little discomfort to my surprise. At the conclusion of the process he said it will take six months to evaluate the tooth and to completely remove the abscess giving the tooth time to heal. I was extremely dumbfounded that all the stories I have heard over the years by people having a bad experience with their root canal which I did not. I contribute this solely on the outstanding dental skills and professionalism of Dr. Kim and his staff. In November, as always, the staff warmly greeted me for my six-month check-up. While Dr. Kim gave me a fist bump upon entering his examination room. He promptly explained the before and after x-rays of my tooth and gave me the great new that root canal was successful. The tooth was on the path of fully recovering. I am still astonished that I had no pain during this process. This can only be contributed to Dr. Kim’s outstanding skills as a dentist. I would strongly and highly recommend anyone who requires a root canal to go to Cornerstone Endodontics and have Dr. Kim as your dentist.

Dr. Holman is the very BEST! I am a very nervus person and was put at ease immediately. The staff is great and the best thing is...no pain..I have already recommended Dr. Holman and Cornerstone Endodontics.

Everyone was friendly. Dr. Kim explained things thoroughly and made me feel comfortable throughout the procedure. I appreciated that Dr. Kim called me the following day to see how I was doing. I was amazed at how quickly and effortlessly I was received today, as an emergency. Kim was incredibly helpful working with my primary doctors office; who booked my appointment today at 10:00 am for 2:45 pm when it was apparent that I need a root canal. Dr Mark A. Holman’s easy manner and comforting assurances, paired with his obvious experience made what others have described as horrific, painless; and dare I say a pleasure if one can do so whilst talking about a root canal. I highly recommend Cornerstone Endodontics ; I’m sure that all of the doctors there are amazing, but it was a pleasure to have met Dr. Holman.

October 11th, 2019 I for one NEVER look forward to any kind of dentistry work done on me. I have never had any more than some simple fillings preformed on me. So when I was told that I needed to have a Root Canal, I was very apprehensive to say the least ! I was diagnosed by a FANTASTIC Holistic Dentist, Shane Nelson and he HIGHLY recommended & referred me to the Cornerstone Endodontics Group. I spoke to Kim and she was able to get me in to see Dr. Joon Kim the next day. When I was about to meet him, his attendant explained what was going to take place prior to Dr. Kim entering the room. Once Dr. Kim entered he was VERY cordial & VERY personable. He discussed and examined my dental concerns. He concluded and confirmed Dr. Nelson’s diagnosis that I needed a Root Canal. Dr. Kim’s first & foremost concern was my comfort ! As he preformed my Root Canal, he & his assistant constantly monitored if I was experiencing ANY discomfort. If I began to, he immediately adjusted his approach & methods. I sensed & felt that was I GOOD and COMPETENT hands during complete procedure. If anyone is needing a Root Canal, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to go to the Cornerstone Endodontics to forever CHANGE that ill conceived perception of that procedure !! My root canal was painless and did not take long. Tooth has been a little tender for several days, but very tolerable. This is my second root canal job with Dr. Kim and the first experience was much the same- that’s why I returned when I needed the procedure again.

I had a dental emergency on Labor Day weekend. I don’t know what I would have done without Dr. Randall. And he also described exactly what he was doing during the whole process and made it as peaceful as it could be.

I've had several root canals and needed another one - in a hurry. They got me in quickly, told me exactly what was up,did the job (painlessly) and sent me on my way. No surprises, no pain - done. All very professional and friendly from start to finish. Hope I don't need endodontic services again but, if I do, this is the place..

Front the front office (very personable and set me at ease from the first phone call) to Dr Randall and Sabrina it was amazing. I never knew a root canal could be such a pleasant experience. Plus they got me in before a holiday weekend and I left with the Doctors cell phone number in case there was any problems over the holiday. I don't expect any but I appreciate the excellent care! He and his asistant wanted to know how I was doing during the procedure, which was reassuring. Appointments were punctual. I had a few bad experiences as a kid at the dentist so I’ve always disliked having to go. And so when I needed to have a root canal I was very anxious about how it would go. Luckily I got referred here and I have only good things to say. The staff at the front desk were helpful and kind and patient. The same is to be said about the rest of the staff. I felt like my comfort and well being was put first before whatever work was being done in my mouth or what the doctors schedule was. Everyone was so patient and nice and understanding. I would highly recommend anyone having to have work done to come here. Which is a high recommendation from someone who very much dislikes dental work being done!

I cannot express how impressed I am with Cornerstone Endodontics and Dr. Jon Kim. The staff are incredibly kind, caring and genuine. They were quick to get me in and assess my abscess and get me treated with an appropriate antibiotic. They were thoughtful to check on me to ensure the antibiotic was working before returning to the office for the root canal. Dr. Kim is amazing! I did not feel the shots even in the roof of my mouth. He explained each step of the process so that I would be comfortable with what was going on and checked on me throughout the procedure. I cannot recommend this group High Enough.

I was a last minute referral from my dentist who thought I may need a root canal. They went out of their way to fit me in. Dr. Mark Holman did a great job and they were very careful to make sure that I was comfortable and informed throughout the procedure. I had never been to this practice before but I would recommend Dr. Holman to anyone. The entire staff was very courteous and made me feel welcome and at ease.

I was completely mortified in the days leading to my root canal since that particular tooth had pain that even multiple tries with novocaine didn’t take away. When I came to Cornerstone, the procedure wasn’t felt at all and the techniques to get it there are extremely bearable. You will surely be totally comfortable when you’re in their hands, and this is coming from a highly anxious, freer the worst type of person!

Absolutely everything was done better than well, it was exemplary. Everyone is so professional and caring. As difficult as any dental procedures are for me, I can say, I felt Dr. Kim, and the entire staff was doing every thing possible to help make the experience as pleasant as possible. Dr Kim is an excellent Dentist. He performed a root canal for me on a particularly bad tooth and his artistry and compassion were exemplary. I have had very bad experiences at Dentist in my past, but all of those have been erased since I found my dentist Dr. Vaughn. She sent me to the Cornerstone Endodontics for further dental work and it was an absolute wonderful experience with Dr. Holman and his assistant Shannon. I was very pleased with my experience at Cornerstone. Initially I got my appointment time wrong and instead of making me wait for another day, they took me later that same day, a huge relief since I was in a lot of pain. Every step of my appointment (for an evaluation of my tooth and a root canal) was carefully explained to me. Each person who helped me was very pleasant. Throughout the process I felt like I was in expert hands. I was thrilled to have the high tech laser used in the cleaning of my tooth canal as it is more thorough. I was very nervous coming in to the office to have a root canal done but I was greeted by the friendly and helpful staff of Cornerstone Endodontics! Let’s face it, no one wants to have a root canal done but Dr Holman and his staff were excellent in treating me! They were very caring, calmed my nerves, and the procedure went smoothly. Dr. Joon Kim and his staff at Cornerstone Endodontics are so professional and caring that you know you are receiving the very best possible dental care. During treatment he was constantly asking if I was okay or experiencing pain. I was pleasantly surprised when Dr. Kim called the evening of my treatment to check how I was doing. I returned to my regular dentist to complete the permanent crown. After 2-3 months experiencing discomfort with the tooth I returned to Dr. Kim for answers and he was fantastic. He took x-rays and a 3-D scan and could find nothing visible like a crack as a cause. He charged me nothing for his services. We decided to give a couple more months and then re-check. Discomfort continued and at re-check after another scan he opened a hole in the crown and put an antibiotic inside sealing with a temporary. After two months I returned with a much improved condition and he put permanent cover on the crown. For all these visits and care he charged me nothing. You rarely, if ever these days, get this kind of care and treatment. Dr. Kim and Cornerstone treats you like family, with the best care for your teeth, and the best possible treatment for your situation. It is the best dental care and fairness I have ever experienced in my life. If you need root canal surgery this is the place to go. You will be HAPPY you did. Gary Bryan

I’ve visited the office three times and each visit has been a pleasant one. Today I was greeted by the receptionist, Kim Terry, who was friendly and efficient, not just with me but everyone who called or came into the office. My technician was Shannon. She was very friendly and also very efficient. I’m always nervous at my appointments so it was nice to chat with Shannon and focus on something else. Dr. Kim explains everything thoroughly and patiently answers all questions. Great experience and would highly recommend.

Calling to check on me when I had an appointment Fri. and moving me up to Thurs based on my pain level. Greeting me at the reception desk (especially Kim) and making me feel like a value customer, and a provider who is looking out for me and my comfort when I had a terrible tooth ache.
